Dear Sir or Madam,
Thank you for submitting your email enquiry. In answer to your question, we would like to inform of the following:
It is the applicant’s decision as to which category of entry clearance he or she would like to apply for. Kindly visit
www.visainfoservices.com for information on the full range of entry clearances offered by the United Kingdom and make your selection.
You may submit an application for a Visit visa in any country. Applications for any other entry clearance categories, however, should be submitted in your country of nationality or your country of normal residence.
Please note:
In general terms "country or territory where the applicant is living" refers to the place where a person is present in any capacity other than as a short term visitor and has permission from the relevant authorities to be so.
Information regarding DAT visa (Direct Airside Transit Visa):
DATV nationals are visa nationals who must have a visa to pass through the UK on their way to another country, even if they are not entering the UK or changing airports. Unless they qualify for exemption from the DATV requirement, they cannot transit without visa (TWOV).
You can get a list of countries whose nationals need direct airside transit visas for the UK from this website on the visa and transit visa nationals (
http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/doineedvis ... vnationals) page, or from your nearest visa application centre.
If you have a DATV, you will not be able to pass through UK Immigration Control, or collect any luggage on your journey through the UK. You will not usually be allowed to stay in the UK overnight to wait for a connection to continue your journey.
If you want to apply for a DATV you will need to show that you:
have booked an onward ticket from the UK for travel within 24 hours of your arrival;
will not need to change airport in the UK;
have all the correct documents you will need to be allowed to enter the country you are travelling to; and
will not need to pass through the UK's immigration control.
The application procedure for Italy is as follows:
As of July 26, 2007, entry clearance applications in Italy may no longer be submitted by courier or third party agent. You must now submit your application in person. This is because biometric information (fingerscan) and your photograph will be taken at the Visa Application Centre at the time of application. You should obtain and fill out applications online at:
http://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/ApplyNow.aspx You must make an appointment to submit your application and provide your biometrics at the Visa Application Centre. After you complete the online application, you will receive an email with an application ID number. Save this number for future reference.
To make the appointment, go to the WorldBridge public website at
http://www.visainfoservices.com, select Italy as your country, and then click on ôMake an appointment at the Visa Application Centreö from the navigation bar on the left and follow the instructions.
You may pay for your application at the Visa Application Centre in Rome cash, credit, or debit card û currency Euro only. Please note that visa fees can change at short notice. Kindly visit
www.visainfoservices.com on the day of application for current fees.
The UK government is collecting biometric information (by means of a photograph and a fingerscan) to help strengthen the UK’s border controls. The measures will also help protect genuine travellers from identity fraud and will speed up their entry to the UK.
